Slow Motion ; Secrets of Simplicity

One of the incredible benefits of simplifying your life inside and out is you are beginning to cherish small moments. You have begun to slow down enough to create memorable moments where you have time to make memories with family and friends.

When my children were small we read a book about a grandpa and his grandson who went on a walk  “just never-mindin.” They strolled through the neighborhood, not going anywhere really. They spent time together, shuffling along with hands in their pockets and not saying anything. They were just together.

Pockets!

When was the last time you strolled your neighborhood with your hands in your pockets? Walking with one of my granddaughters is a special treat. We live several thousand miles from them and visits to them are much to few. When I have opportunity, I cherish taking them to the park, the store or for bagels. When we are together, my feet must move slower and our steps are smaller than when I walk alone. When their small hands take mine as we cross a parking lot or a street I am in heaven. Time stops, and I see the world through their eyes in that moment.

Today, the thought of walking slowly anywhere warms my soul. I might meander through a book store, touching dozens of books, settled into an overstuffed chair and cherishing the solitude of a moment where I am not required to be anywhere. Living a little slower feeds me from the inside out.

Today’s Challenge- Choose to spend time in slow motion- at least 30 minutes.

  • Walk slowly- notice your surroundings
  • Be deliberate in your actions
  • Meander – put your hands in your pockets if you must
  • Drive a different way to work.
  • Sit in silence. Rest from the inside out.
  • Eat outside and enjoy some people watching; imagine where they are going and who they are.
  • Count your blessings.

      1. My pleasure. “Walk Slower – Smile More!”

( It’s better to be slow going than too not be going at all!)

Today is a gift, it is legal tender, let us rejoice and be glad in it this is the day our God has made. Tomorrow is not promised and usually is like a Promissory note. Yesterday is like a canceled check since it is history. Let’s forget about yesterday, and optimize today. Let’s make the most of it. Call people and tell you love them, send flowers while you still can. Life is amazing when you slow down and take your eyes off yourself, and think about someone else and love them.

P.s. The Link Below is about a video online about turning off tv, video games, and electronics, and just take time to look up , and talk to people. You will be amazed on how many people you will come across when you are truly interested in helping others, and listening to what they have to say.
